Praise for composer and mandolin soloist Jeff Midkiff’s From the Blue Ridge: “...toe-tapping...spiritual...colorfully scored...fun...” – Michael Butterman, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra

Of Note

John Williams’ score for the classic 1972 John Wayne Western, The Cowboy Overture, is a gem loaded with melody and adventure.

From the Blue Ridge reflects Midkiff’s roots in the Blue Ridge Mountains and his fondness for the bluegrass music tradition, with a touch of swing and jazz thrown in.

Copland’s Appalachian Spring was composed for American ballet he created with Martha Graham and earned him the 1945 Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Considered one of the great South American composers, Ginastra was known for incorporating Argentinian folk music within his works.
